Rub lemon juice on the scar/marks. This will lighten the colour. Apply the juice and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Wash off your face and then apply a sun block lotion.

2) Make a paste of sandalwood powder, black gram powder and rose water. Apply it on the area and I possible leave it overnight. Wash it with cold water the next morning. If you find that it makes you skin too dry then add some milk into it.

If these tips did not work for you, do not lose heart you can still try some other tips. Good Luck!
References :
I'll be honest, home remedies do not work unless you only get the occasional spot here and there.

Benzoyl Peroxide and birth control pills are what worked for me, and not together.

Birth control worked really well! A lot of my friends that I hadn't seen in a long time would say, "Your skin looks really good!" It was kind of embarrassing being that was the first thing they'd say when I'd see them! I discontinued use of the pill as I didn't want to have a prescription that I had to keep refilling and doctor's appointments to ensure I was still a good candidate for the drug (lazy, I know) and, I just didn't want/need protection from getting pregnant.

Benzoyl Peroxide was another one. This is what I continue to use. It isn't a system on it's own but is a main ingredient in a lot of the systems you see on TV. A lot of people swear by it. You really have to use it cautiously to avoid any side effects (redness, flakiness etc.) and you have to use it regularly.

I have oily skin with the worst type of acne, nodulocystic acne and Benzoyl is doing really well to clear it up. Not only that, but my skin is no longer as oily as it used to be and the temperatures where I am have only risen into the high 20s (Celsius). I really figured it'd be like any other acne cream and do absolutely nothing, but it seems to really get down into the pores and dry everything right up. This is where flakiness can be a problem if you don't moisturize properly with use.

Another thing I really like about Benzoyl is the fact that it's less than $10 a bottle. Mind you, the bottle is a bit small in my opinion, but for what you pay for those systems, it's worth it. You can get the product I use, 'Benzagel 5%,' at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy department. Be sure to go during pharmacy hours as it is kept in a lock-box.

I would recommend you just go to the doctor and they'll give you tablets and / or cream to help your skin. You need something to stop the spots coming rather than get rid of them if your acne is severe. Accutane is very strong but the best medication for acne.
References :
Dont do this every night because it will dry out your face, but use a well soaked cotton ball, and rub, rubbing alcohol all over your face 3-4 times a week. Every person is different, but it helped my skin
References :
Maintain a routine. Most acne treatments take time to work. It usually takes between two and eight weeks before you see any significant improvement, so you are going to have to be patient. Once you've gotten your acne cleared up, it's important to continue with the treatment that's working so it does not return.

If all else fails, contact a doctor. Mild antibiotics that are available only by prescription can help reduce acne. Keep in mind though, that the widespread overuse (taking antibiotics when you really don't need them or for something they don't treat) and misuse (not taking medication for the specified amount of time) of antibiotics has led to the development of multiple antibiotic resistant bacteria. That means that the antibiotics won't work for the things they used to (including your acne).

Keep hair off of your face if at all possible. If you want to keep your bangs, then consider taking showers regularly or keeping your forehead clean with oil-dabbing cloths / clean tissues / etc.

Get good sleep. Stress increases your skin's oiliness, which, combined with sweat and dirt, can clog pores and cause pimples. (Change your pillowcase frequently.)

Acne medications may cause your skin to initially break out worse than before because all FDA-approved acne medications (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulphur ) are causing your skin to regenerate faster. This brings existing acne pimples already under your skin (but not visible yet) to the surface, which in turn causes a massive but fortunately temporary break out. Give the medications time to work -- about one to two weeks -- and you will notice a big difference in the quality of your skin.

See a dermatologist if over the counter remedies do not work. They specialize in skin care and can prescribe you medicines that help you improve it.

Drink plenty of water. Staying well hydrated can help your condition improve, because the "waste management" control system in your body requires a lot of water to do its job. Without enough water, the body has difficulty removing some waste products efficiently.

Look for face washes which contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. This is the key ingredient in some of the best face washes. use a 5-10% benzoyl peroxide of mild to moderate acne and 10% for severe.

Try smashing one tablet of aspirin in a small bowl, then adding lemon juice to the mixture. Aspirin is acete salicylic acid, chemically related to salicylic acid. Apply to the affected areas overnight. It boosts the healing process while reducing redness.
References :
I used to have terrible painful acne. i tried proactive and it didn't work. none of the facials, cleansers or toners worked. and then i tried zinc supplements. zinc is an essential in your bodies immune system. it helps you fight infections and acne. i went to right aid and bought a 3 dollar bottle of zinc. i take 50mg a day with a meal (if you don't take on a full stomach, you feel sick) after about two Weeks, you'll be able to see a dramatic change. zinc works for 90% of the people that try it, the only side effects are you feel sick if you don't take with a meal. you have nothing to lose but acne :) IT HELPS HEAL SCARS
References :
Tea tree oil is antibacterial, antifungal & good for acne. The facial toner I use actually has tea tree oil in it, along with grapefruit & juniper berry water. For spot treatments, I take pure tea tree oil and just dab it on the affected area. It works especially well for cystic breakouts, which are the big painful pink bumps.
Many citrus juices are also ideal for acne-prone skin, such as grapefruit juice, lemon juice.. and can effective on breakouts, but if you have sensitive skin then I wouldn't recommend it.
Witch hazel, just like tea tree oil, can be found in drugstores and it is inexpensive. These two have actually been the best for me, I use them very often and they work wonders. They are all natural which is great, and they heal the skin, decrease breakouts, decrease redness & swelling without irritating the skin.
If you are looking for products that you can probably find right in your home, I'd say toothpaste & baking soda work well on breakouts.. but not if you have sensitive skin.
References :
Good luck.
